Steve joined Kiwibank as Chief Executive in July 2018, bringing over 20 years of banking experience in Australia and New Zealand. His career spans senior and executive leadership roles across Retail, Corporate, Commercial, and Rural Banking, as well as Legal, with New Zealand's largest banks. Steve is an Independent Director of Goodman Property Services, a Director of the Banking Ombudsman Scheme, and a former Chair of the New Zealand Bankers Association.  Passionate about business and Purpose-led performance, Steve is also a founding trustee of the Tania Dalton Foundation Charitable Trust, which aims to help young women achieve their potential.

As Kiwibank's Chief Executive, he is responsible for the bank's strategic direction, including focusing on contributing to a productive economy and helping New Zealand businesses thrive. Under his leadership, Kiwibank has grown its business lending faster than any other bank, highlighting its commitment to driving competition that benefits Kiwi.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Law from Otago University and an MBA from the University of Sydney.
